Damaging Wind Gusts Knock Out Power To Thousands In Fairfield County

Thousands of Fairfield County residents lost power as wind gusts reaching upwards of 65 mph sent power lines flying.

As of 3 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 7, Eversource was reporting dozens of outages impacting 12,406 of their 1,278,540 Connecticut customers.

Danbury was hit the hardest, with 2,759 customers reporting outages, with more than 100 outages reported in New Canaan, and Newtown. Outages were also reported in Greenwich, Redding, and Westport.

A total of 288 United Illuminating customers are also without power, led by Shelton with 76.

Eversource said that complete restoration may not be reached until approximately 8:30 p.m. on Friday night.

A wind warning will be in effect until 7 p.m. in the region. Check Daily Voice for updates.
